Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE)
Airport Hotels and Accommodation
(Venice, Italy)
Famed for its spectacular canals and colourful gondola boats, there is no question that Venice is a very beautiful and appealing city, although when it comes to hotels, this becomes a rather pricey city.
However, if you are prepared to stay away from the very centre and choose rooms with views other than the Grand Canal and St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco), then accommodation immediately becomes more affordable, especially during the relatively quiet months of November and January.
With almost 700 different hotels to choose from, the accommodation scene in the city has never been so well developed, with a number of lodging options being just a short journey from Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE). Much of the accommodation is spread around the main districts of San Marco, San Polo, Santa Croce, Cannaregio and Castello, the latter of which being the location of the rather sumptuous five-star Hotel Danieli, which is housed in the particularly impressive 14th-century Palazzo Dandolo.
Luxury accommodation doesn't come any finer in Venice than the Orient Express owned Hotel Cipriani, a former villa lying in the Giudecca area, surrounded by landscaped gardens and enjoying unbeatable views of the lagoon. A good option for those travelling on a budget is Hotel Gallini, which is situated in the heart of the city, close to the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Alternatively, camping sites can be found on the mainland, to the south of the Mestre, and on the shoreline of the Litorale del Cavalino.
Venice: Airport Hotels and Accommodation
A selection of hotels are located alongside the airport and can be reached within just a matter of minutes. Popular choices include the Courtyard by Marriott and also the nearby Antony Hotel Venice, which is known for its stunning views of the Venice Lagoon.

Venice: City Hotels and Accommodation
The best hotels can be found in and around the very centre of Venice, which is a mere 13 km / 8 miles south of Marco Polo Airport (VCE). The most desirable accommodation in this area is close to the main attractions and landmarks, such as the Piazza San Marco, although lodging here is always on the pricey side as it is particularly desirable.
Most of the area's hotels always include breakfast in the price and rarely deduct this charge for those wishing to eat out in the morning and find a more filling meal. During the high seasons in Venice, from March to October and also around Christmas time, accommodation can become exceptionally expensive and even the most basic one-star hotels are rarely cheap. However, a number of hotels do offer discounts during the height of the summer, between July and August, and many actually choose to close their doors in the winter.
Venice is known as a city of romance and every year many of the hotels offer special Valentines Day packages in mid-February, attracting couples and lovers to the city. In general, most of the accommodation in the Venice area should always be booked at least two months ahead if possible, although booking offices at the train station and at the Piazzale Roma will be happy to help find available hotels if necessary, but not hostels.
